AI “productivity” tools are everywhere.

Most are noise. Many look helpful. Some actually do help.

The overabundance of tools makes it tough to choose which ones you want to focus on and take time to help you with projects, account growth, or whatever you might need it for.

Diversifying yourself across multiple tools can be productive for you; you just need to know how to do it and which tools will help you do it.

What if you could sweep the internet for the right answers in seconds, then flip the chaos into clear, actionable insights, before anyone else has even found the starting line?

That’s what I’m here to do today.

NotebookLM and Perplexity. They’re built for different jobs, and when paired, they erase excuses. You get superhuman research speed, and you make sense of it all, in less time than most people spend reading emails.

Was this newsletter forwarded to you?

There are many tools that, when combined, work absolute wonders. Today, I’m going to run you through an example of when Perplexity and NotebookLM are used, you can open up a whole case of opportunities and clarity around your business development growth.

Let’s dance.

Find customers on Roku this holiday season

Now through the end of the year is prime streaming time on Roku, with viewers spending 3.5 hours each day streaming content and shopping online. Roku Ads Manager simplifies campaign setup, lets you segment audiences, and provides real-time reporting. And, you can test creative variants and run shoppable ads to drive purchases directly on-screen.

Bonus: we’re gifting you $5K in ad credits when you spend your first $5K on Roku Ads Manager. Just sign up and use code GET5K. Terms apply.

First Touch - Share Something Useful

Stop using NotebookLM and Perplexity in isolation. Use Perplexity to hunt down the credible, real-time, source-backed facts on your topic. Don’t waste a second on the usual ten-source limit or second-guessing what’s missing.

I’ve talked a good amount on Perplexity in the past; you can check those out here:

Copy those findings straight into a fresh NotebookLM notebook. Suddenly, chaos turns into structure: listen to the summary, generate mind maps, build a study guide, or dive into an interactive exploration until you see the full picture.

Tell Perplexity what you are looking for

Perplexity can do the heavy work of finding the right sources that are relevant to the topic at hand. Here, I’m focusing on the right government contracting reform.

Instead of taking hours upon hours of researching, I just go to Perplexity, and it can handle all of the manual work for me.

Here is the prompt I used:

Find credible and verified sources explaining the key principles to government contracting reform, legislative updates, procurement changes, and set-asides. Provide links to articles, papers, tutorials that offer examples and explanations.

Second Touch - Organize the Chaos

Alone, each tool is good but limited. Perplexity finds the data that matters, fast. NotebookLM lets you turn that raw flood into organized, precise, personalized knowledge, with no hallucination and no thread lost in the shuffle. Used together, you can research, analyze, and act at speeds and at a depth that others simply won’t match.

Take the output from Perplexity and copy it into NotebookLM.

Adding additional sources

  • You have the ability to add additional sources. Include any sources that you want, ask Perplexity again for sources to include, or manually add them

  • NotebookLM event allows you to do Deep Research right in their tool

  • The mind mapping is great!

The output from NotebookLM gives me clear information, from verified sources, and in different formats however I want to look at it.

The Options for Output

NotebookLM has many options for output, event pre-prompted reports that can save significant time on your overall project:

The Sharpened Takeaway

A workflow powered by Perplexity and NotebookLM doesn’t just help you keep up, it lets you lap the field. If you’re waiting for the “perfect tool,” stop. The system is right here, in real work, right now, changing the outcome for those who use it.

I broke this down recently for building a market analysis for a federal agency and competitive assessment, using both NotebookLM and Perplexity helped me tremendously!

What the Internet Taught Me This Week

Two tools are better than one.

The real win isn’t just reading about smarter workflows; it's putting new habits into play. You've seen why pairing Perplexity and NotebookLM changes research from a chore into an unfair advantage.

Take ten minutes, run the workflow once, and feel the difference. Every big shift starts with a small experiment. So…start small, and build from there.

This week, don’t just have more answers. Have better moves, built on what you acted on today.

See you next week.
