Some weeks, it feels like my whole life is a to-do list.
Inbox, meetings, LinkedIn messages, more emails, friends, deadlines. It all blurs together.
Things are getting done. Boxes are getting checked. But inside, it feels off. Like I am moving fast and slowly disappearing at the same time.
Was this newsletter forwarded to you?
That is the moment I realized something had to change. Not the goals, not the ambition, but the structure. I needed rules that kept me human, not just productive. Simple anchors I could come back to when the chaos tried to take over.
This week is about those anchors, and how you can use them to build a life that actually works long term, not just a schedule that looks busy.
Let’s dance.
AI that works like a teammate, not a chatbot
Most “AI tools” talk... a lot. Lindy actually does the work.
It builds AI agents that handle sales, marketing, support, and more.
Describe what you need, and Lindy builds it:
“Qualify sales leads”
“Summarize customer calls”
“Draft weekly reports”
The result: agents that do the busywork while your team focuses on growth.
The Four Anchors That Keep You Human
1. A Ritual That Tethers You Back to Yourself
You need something that reminds you that you're a person first, a producer second. Not as a motto on your wall. As a daily practice.
For some, it's a morning walk before the day hits. For others, it's five minutes of silence before bed. The what doesn't matter. The consistency does.
This isn't self-care fluff. It's maintenance. You wouldn't drive a car without oil. Don't drive yourself without regular reminders of who you actually are underneath the titles and the results.
2. The 70% Rule
Stop giving 100% as your default setting. That's not dedication. That's unsustainable.
Reserve your best energy for what actually matters. The proposal that could change the business? That deserves 100%. The email that could wait until tomorrow? 70% is fine. The meeting that doesn't move the needle? 70%.
Most people flip this backwards. They give maximum effort to minimum-impact tasks and wonder why they're exhausted. Clarity on what deserves your brilliance is the first step to keeping it.
3. The Weekly Humanity Check-In
Every Sunday, ask yourself one honest question: Did I treat myself like a person this week?
Not like a machine. Not like a tool. Like a human being with limits, needs, and a life outside the hustle.
If the answer is no, something changes next week. Not someday. Next week. That's the gap between knowing better and actually being better.
4. Let Something Go, On Purpose
Find one obligation you said yes to out of fear, guilt, or habit. And cut it.
Not delegate it. Cut it. Delete it from your life. Feel the lightness that follows.
Most high achievers have commitments they don't even want anymore. They're just there because you said yes once and never said no. That's not a commitment. That's dead weight.
Why Form Matters More Than Function
Here's the part most people miss: you don't get better by doing more.
You get better by doing better.
This is the athlete's secret, and it applies to everything. A runner obsesses over form. Small adjustments to posture, stride length, breathing. Tiny improvements, compounded over months, add up to a completely different athlete.
You can apply the exact same principle to your work.
Bad at writing proposals? Don't write more proposals. Learn how to write them better. Take a class. Study what works. Practice deliberately. Same with communication, presentations, leadership, decision-making, whatever gap exists between where you are and where you want to be, form is the answer.
Most people skip this step. They just power through with mediocre form, hoping results will come anyway. They don't. You stay stuck.
Real growth is boring. It's unglamorous. It's showing up to a Toastmasters meeting because your communication needs work. It's rewriting a proposal five times to get the structure right. It's practicing, adjusting, and practicing again.
And again.
But here's the payoff: when your form is solid, function becomes effortless. You don't have to white-knuckle your way through the day. The system does the work.
The Real Win
You're not broken. You're just built for the short term when you need to be built for the long term.
Short-term wins feel incredible. But they're built on an unsustainable form. Long-term growth requires structure, ritual, and the willingness to work on your form until it becomes invisible.
The highest achievers don't do more. They do better. They protect their humanity. They run sustainable systems. And they obsess over getting the fundamentals right.
That's how you actually win. Not by grinding harder. By building better.
Start this week. Pick one of the four anchors. Implement it. Then work on your form in one area that's been dragging you down. Small steps. Consistent effort. Better structure.
You'll be shocked at how quickly clarity returns when you stop confusing motion with progress and start actually building for real.
What the Internet Taught Me This Week
From new tools, recent trends, and market updates, here is what has been on my mind.
White House AI policies draw bipartisan pushback. Check it out here
Global chip sales surge 27% amid AI-driven memory shortage. Check it out here
Three in 10 US teens use AI chatbots every day, but safety concerns are growing. Check it out here
So do not wait for burnout to force a reset. Pick one anchor and start today. Add a simple ritual that tethers you back to yourself.
Routines reduce stress, protect your focus, and make it easier to follow through on the things that actually matter.
Then, work on your form, again and again. In your writing. In your communication. In how you lead and how you live. Consistency over intensity, structure over chaos.
See you next week.
